What is KevNav

KevNav is an application for getting from one UK postcode to another UK postcode for small motor vehicles e.g small vans, cars and motorcycles plus push bikes, also public transport as well.

How to use

Once loaded on the iconbar click on it's iconbar icon which will open up the from to window.
From To window
Enter the postcode in the From section where you want to start from and enter the postcode in the to section to where you want to go to. Chose either Imperial or Metric measurements then either Motor Vehicle, Cycle or Public Transport for vehicle choice. You can change the colour of the line used for route marker with the SEet Colour button and alter the thickness of the line from Thick, Medium and Think. Clicking the Get Route button which will then open up the Route window if using the first 2 choices. If Public Transport option is picked then the Get Route button will change it's name to Set Date Time which will open up the Set date and time window,
Route window
The New Route button will up the From To window allowing you to change the route, measurement units or vehicle choice.
The Save button opens up the save window allowing yo to save the information in various formats.
The Map button will be click able if an application that can display KML files has been seen by the filer.

The save window allows you to save the route in three different formats:
  • Plain Text
  • HTML
  • KML
The Return Journey button gives a return route from the finish point to the start point.

Set date and time window
Set the time and date you want to either leave at or arrive by, the leave at option will set up the route to leave at or after the time and date specified whilst the arrive by option will set the route to arrive before the specified time and date. Then click on the OK button which will open up the Public Transport window with a choice of different routed to pick from.

The Save window allows you to save the route as either:
  • Plain Text
  • HTML
Clicking on any of the Route buttons will change the route displayed. The number of routes will vary according to various factors.
Clicking with the left mouse button on the route discription will try and run the KML file whilst clicking with the right mouse button will open up a Save window allowing you to save the KML file for that part of the route.

Requirements

KevNav requires a working internet connection and wget to work, with the data coming from Transport API site.
