2nd East Kent Railway Beer Festival

Over the August Bank Holiday period I attended and helped out with the 2nd East Kent Railways Real Ale and Cider festival and found it even better than the first one.

I drank many fine ales and ciders and will look forward to next years festival.

Dogwatch Stout

The other day I had a couple of pints of some very nice stout called Dogwatch from the Nelson Brewery and very tasty it was as well.

This stout did not have the normal Nelson Brewery distinct taste of their other beers I have tried over the years, and I would enjoy having this beer again in the future.

The term Dog Watch is a naval term for two short work periods, the first between 16:00 and 18:00 and the second between 18:00 and 20:00 Hours.

East Kent Railway Beer Festival

Over the weekend I attended and helped out at the first ever East Kent Railway Beer Festival and had a superb time drinking some very nice ales.

Also the members of the railway club seemed very friendly and I look forward with interest to their next beer festival.

Skinner’s Cornish Knocker

The other day I tried a couple of pints of Skinner’s Cornish Knocker ale and very tasty it was, with a slight tangy taste to it.

For some extra information a Knocker was a Tin Mine Fairy who lived down the mines and used to guide the miners to the rich veins of tin with their knocking.

The miners used to repay them by leaving them the crust from their pasties.

No Help For Pubs From Our MPs Then

The other day in the House of Commons their was a vote on the budget to increase alcohol duty which went through with 296 voting in favour of this shameful betrayal and 232 voting the right way.

Yet the very same MPs who voted for this are the same MPs who enjoy a subsidised bar in the Houses of Parliament, is this right?

Long Live The Ale

Last night I had a few pints of a very lovely beer called Monarchy by the Salopian Brewery, it is a light coppery colour with a nice taste that wants you having more.

I would certainly try their other beers after trying this one.

Petition PM: Axe The Beer Tax

Currently on the Number 10 web site their is a petition to axe the beer tax and I strongly urge all my readers to sign it.

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to axe the beer tax.

help save the Great British pub by dropping the tax on beer, the chancellor takes 33% of a pint of beer, he wants more.. enough is enough. if the chancellor doesnt drop this tax it could mean the end for British pubs.

rachael rogerson of south elmsall united services club Deadline to sign up by: 14 August 2009 current signatures at time of going to press 3.

Dragon’s Blood

The other day I had a few extremely nice pints of Dragon’s Blood by Gadds and it went down very well and I hope to taste this drink again.

It is well worth drinking and it will be particularly appropriate for England’s national day St. George’s day on the 23rd of April.

Mulled Ale

On Christmas Eve I had a couple of nice pints of Morrissey Fox Mulled Ale which was a very tasty Christmassy Ale, with a spicy taste to it.

Definitely a pint to try again and I will look forward to trying more of Morrissey Fox’s brews as when I come across them.

Merry Christtmas

I would llke to wish all my readers a very merry Christtmas.
